ArchiKal 300 – decorative lime plaster – interior.
Where does ArchiKal 300 lime plaster come from?
Lime, or calcium oxide CaCo3, is widespread in nature. Combined with carbonic acid, it forms calcium carbonate, the base of all limestone. Pure lime is white, powdery, warm, and caustic. Lime combines with water while releasing intense heat (around 300 degrees); it then increases considerably in volume: this is known as slaking. This process produces hydrated lime or slaked lime. When this hydrated lime is mixed with a small amount of water, it forms a smooth paste which creates ArchiKal 300. Mixed with a larger proportion of water, we obtain Galtane Lime Paint.
Considered from the perspective of humidity, that is, based on its greater or less degree of affinity for water, we divide lime into several varieties: into lime air-hardening or lime hydraulic depending on whether they set or harden in the air or in water.
There are three types of hydrated lime: high-calcium (fat) lime, medium lime, and lean lime.
Hydraulic limes hardly expand at all when slaked; furthermore, they do not generate heat during this process. They are generally lean, very rarely medium, and never fat.
Stucco, derived from the Italian word stucco, means a plaster suitable for filling. Stucco is a composition that imitates marble and is formulated from slaked lime and white marble powder. The use of stucco in construction dates back to ancient times. The Romans used stucco to cover brick walls. Stucco isn’t just for imitating white marble; by mixing it with mineral pigments, you can imitate colored marbles, which is exactly what ArchiKal 300 offers you.

Tips and how to apply ArchiKal 300 decorative lime plaster?
Application:
Pour 10kg of ArchiKal 300 into 2.5 liters of clean, cold water.
Mix with a powerful mixer. Let it sit for at least 15 minutes and shake it again before use. If necessary, the amount of water can be adjusted. To achieve a good consistency, the mixture must be prepared just before application.
Spread using a trowel to a thickness of 1 to 2 mm and, depending on the desired finish, finish by smoothing the surface with a flexible trowel. The smoothing process will be carried out as soon as the plaster has set, and definitely before it is completely dry!
